A group exercise for our last week. Your assignment is to recreate a few memorable shots from one of our films. You have the option of creating a series of 4-6 shots – or filming a short sequence. The best assignments will show attention to details of mis-en-scene and cinematography (and, if shooting video, editing and sound).
I’ll form groups and assign films. We’ll start this in class in week 14 – and your group will finish on its own and share the final result by Monday at noon.
Steps
- Meet and choose images or scene(s) that are most revealing
- Storyboard your shots
- Scout locations / mise-en-scène / cast characters / plan for shooting
- Shoot on your phone – feel free to use filters, special effects
- Save your image or video files – but don’t include name of movie in the name
- One member of your group should share files with me in a folder over OneDrive – by 12pm on Monday
- We’ll watch in our last class on Monday to see if others can guess your film – and what they have to say about your images/scene(s)
